It’s absolutely amazing what nature creates on the shores of Lake Superior. Today’s photos come to us from Stacey Flood, who along with her husband and a friend did some Superior shores exploring and found this life-size arch of ice and it looks like some rock embedded there, too. It’s right on the shoreline, as you can see the water lapping through the opening over all the little rocks underneath the arch. How about the blue hue of the ice that is hanging down from the top of the icy formation, beautiful! The two photos with Stacey, her friend and her hubby, really show off the size of this icy creation.

We have a different sort of video from Alexis Dahl today. She has been living in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula for three years, having moved here from Ann Arbor and she reflects on those three years, answering questions that folks have asked about living in the U.P., and how that’s been going for her. Alexis makes it clear that she’s not the universal authority on all things U.P., but gives her perspective on the questions that were asked.

Those are beautiful. But I'm a chicken and would
never chance going in there. Good thing we have
people like Stacey to do that for us. Thanks!

Those are awesome...and we love Alexis and hope she
never leaves~

Hey Steve Brimm....nice job on the back cover of
Lake Superior magazine! Throw a couple of those
pics to Mary!

Back in the 50's and early 60's there was a cave
somewhere by Copper Harbor that you could go into in
the early summer and get ice for your cooler. Back
then there were not too many places that sold ice in
the Copper Country. I remember being on picnics in
the Copper Harbor area and going in with my Dad to
look for ice. I was less than ten at the time so the
exact place is no longer in my random-access memory.

Nice chamber of horrors ice picks.
Looks like a cave that Capt Paul and
Dr. Nat might explore… Stalactite City.

Beautiful!

Can anyone provide the location? GPS coordinates?

Hi
Fantastic ice pictures; I can picture Tolkien
dwarves or sci fi aliens instead of yoopers posing
in from of the ice scenes.
