Beth Jukuri is always up to something and even when it entails some work, she knows how to make it fun. Her daughter and granddaughter joined her in picking the cherries from their tree and actually picked quite a bunch of them from the looks of it. Then once they were done with the picking, it was time to prepare the berries for a delicious looking dessert. It looks like some type of cherry crumble and from that bottom photo, I can almost smell the deliciousness. I don’t know about you, but my mouth is watering!

Since we can’t get a real taste of Beth’s dessert, we have a video to help get your mind off it. FunInTheUP is taking us on an adventure to Horseshoe Harbor up near Copper Harbor. The intro describes it quite well: “The water is beautiful and the rock outcroppings are amazing. Pick agates, enjoy a swim, go sea kayaking, or walk along the rock face and take in the beauty of this area. Horseshoe harbor is located just outside Copper Harbor, take the dirt road where US41 starts and follow it a little over a mile until you reach the sign for Horseshoe Harbor and follow that to the parking lot. Once you reach it you can park and take the short hike to Horseshoe Harbor. The path is rocky and has roots so be careful as you hike.”

Love cherries. I could live on them.

I believe you need a 4 wheel drive to get out to
Horseshoe??? I went out there decades ago, and it
took 45 mins to go 14 miles....

I didn't know there were cherry orchards on the Keewenaw.

Donna,

The road to the parking lot is much improved from your memory. It's another 300+ yards to the beach along a hiking path. I think any motorized vehicles are prohibited beyond the parking lot.

Growing up I had uncles that owned apple and cherry orchards in the Grand Rapids area. There was a large Bing Cherry tree next to the house. We would sit high up and stuff ourselves. One time, we overdid things and could not climb down quickly enough before nature called. We were young enough that even that was fun.

Sweet pix! When I was a kid we had friends who lived in Conneaut,
OH and they had cherry trees on their property… and as the saying
goes “You can’t eat just one.”
I spent an entire afternoon chowing down and paid for it later.

There's a Trans Superior International Yacht Race going on this weekend. Who knew?
I happened to discover it with a visit to Marine Traffic today.
