This past Saturday, Debbie Jarve shared some foggy Portage Canal photos with the Ranger III at the dock. Today she shares pictures of the Ranger under way, heading out to Isle Royale with supplies and most likely workers for the summer. They head over there early to get things opened up and stocked with all the necessities to make the visitor’s stay on the Island pleasant. Checking trails is also on their “to do” list, I’m guessing. With the sunshine and calm canal waters, it looks like this voyage will be a good one. Of course you never know what Lake Superior is doing out there on the 60 plus miles from Houghton.

Debbie also recorded a video of the Ranger in action heading toward the Portage Lake Lift Bridge. Just a reminder that Passenger service on the Ranger III begins on May 30th.

We Already Know, But … USA Today, the most prolific purveyors of "Best of" lists, or so it seems, has starting voting on the 10 Best Readers' Choice Awards for Best Lakes. Usually we'd simply say, in our most humble middle-of-the-country, northern way that we don't need votes to tell us what we already know.
