Ice on the roadways doesn’t stop Barbara Bouwkamp from getting out for an early morning walk to capture the sunrise in Laurium. She just straps on her Yak Trax to help gain traction on the ice and snow. Doing so keeps her from taking any spills while she is chasing the sunrise so she can share the journey with us here on the Pasty Cam. I love the last two shots where all you see is the icy road ahead with the prize of the beautiful sunrise beginning to glow on the horizon. Nice job, Barbara!
Visit Keweenaw Facebook page invites folks to “Adventure North to Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula. The snow capital of the Midwest, the Keweenaw attracts snow sports enthusiasts seeking powder for skiing, snowmobiling, fat-tire biking and snowshoeing. Located in the heart of Lake Superior, the Keweenaw receives an average 270 inches of snow each winter. This "lake-effect" snow blankets the peninsula in fine powder beginning in December and running through March and even April.”

What beautiful sunrise pictures!
Definitely lots to do in the Keweenaw in the winter. I shovel snow and that is all, lol.

Greetings to all:
Was Barbara walking / photographing along Old Colony Road? Just seemed like that was the road in the photos to me.
I can also vouch for the YakTrax. I have the cheaper, plastic ones. They work well but I don't see them lasting as long as the metal ones. The sizes do run small. Falling down at my age is not a casual thing.
