Here we are at the end of another month, where we pause on this last day of November to recall those that have departed too soon:

Pauline “Ding” Anderson
Robert “Bobby” Borsum
Clyde Elmblad
Edward Gardner
Kurt Hamlin
Robert John " Chicky" Hannon
William “Billy” Kallio
Frank R. Nash
Addison Perala
Brooklyn Peterson
Lacey Anne Rajala
Rudy Greg Simonson
Sharon Smith
Easton Thom
Gary Wenberg
Paul Ziemnick
Innocent victims of war in the current conflict,
Servicemen & women and
Frontline workers who have given their all

All of us here at Pasty Central, wish to extend our deepest condolences to all those who have lost someone in their lives. There are several on the above list that deserve special mention, including Clyde Elmblad who shared many historic photos for Shoebox Memories, Frank R. Nash, better known on the Pasty Cam as FRNash and Sharon Smith, the popular blogger of “A View From the Field”, along with contributor of photographs here on the Pasty Cam. Today’s photo is from Sharon’s “View” earlier this month as the sun was going down in Copper Harbor. Please feel free to add the names of those you would like to remember on this memorial page.

May there be comfort in knowing that someone so special will never be forgotten. - Julie Hébert

Nice picture from Sharon. I didn't follow
her blog at all but she took some nice
pictures. And FRNash was such a shock. I'll
miss his criticism because sometimes it just
made me laugh. Then there were other times.
I'll leave it at that. I do hope that
somebody who knows him sees this. Now for
Bill Kallio, that shocked me. I knew he was
battling cancer but it hasn't been long. He
was a nice guy. I'm sorry for his family and
friends, as I am for all of the others
listed here.

The photo seems fitting, somehow.

In memory of my younger brother, Doug Laughlin, who passed away last November6th at the age of 63.
We've been through another Thanksgiving without him, and soon another Christmas.

Such a long list this month, and some familiar names. With sympathy for all who knew and loved these folks, as well as others who passed right before the holidays. As Kathyrn Laughlin (Kathyl) shared, you always seem to remember that connection and it makes it that much harder.

This IS one long list. Sympathies to all.

I got Ding's job in Baraga after she retired....those were HUGE shoes to fill! Bob Borsum...fly high old friend. Billy Kallio..that was a shock. I used to ride the school bus w/the Kallio kids. They are all outstanding folks....That was a great family.

Blessings to all.

I was surprised to hear of Gary Wenberg's passing. Gary was on the Board of Directors at Still Waters Assisted Living, when this website began. I was administrator at the time, and Gary was a real proponent of using this brand new thing called the "World Wide Web" when it officially began back in September 1994. The following Spring we published our first website, the Snow Thermometer. A family in Oregon saw it and eventually donated a nice newer car for transporting Still Waters residents. Gary was always encouraging us to do more on the web. That resident car was later put to work shuttling pasties to the post office, until finally there were so many packages the FedEx trucks started coming to us.

R.I.P. Gary. The project you had a part in kicking off, is still providing support for the elderly, baking and shipping pasties around the U.S... and still celebrating a glimpse of life from the U.P. every day :)

Condolences to all. I sure am missing my daily visits to Sharon

Smith’s website. She chose to live life on her own terms

independently in Copper Harbor.

Sad to read Clyde Elmblad has passed. Enjoyed
reading his stories working aboard the William Clay
Ford. May his family and friends find peace with
the memories they have of Clyde.

Was surprised to see a lot of these people that I
shared comments with a few years ago have left us.
Hope everyone has a great day!
