Cathy McKenzie enjoyed playing tourist around Keweenaw County when her nephew and his girlfriend came for a short visit. She said her nephew has a passion for photography... hmm... I wonder where he gets that from? With it well past peak fall color, they still found plenty of beauty and a bonus, the days were warm for October. They started out with some time on the shoreline of the Gratiot River Park, where there were even a few folks fishing with hip waders on, trying their luck in Lake Superior.

Some beautiful Autumn yellows were found on a trail they walked and overhead, too, like a canopy of color. Then a ride along the Cliff drive showed them a bit more color, but you can see it’s winding down. Check out that water hole on the trail to get up on the top of the Cliffs. It’s been a while since I was up there, but it used to be deep enough that you’re likely to get a little wet going through there, even in a side by side.

We’re taking a quick trip to the Covered Road again, this time with Kathy Erkkila Ptaszek, who said that it was raining leaves that day.

Nice video of "raining leaves". Altho in the video it appears to be a breezy day, it always amazes me to experience raining leaves on a calm, windless day. I wonder exactly what causes them to fall in that manner, as if they're being pulled to the earth by gravity(?)

What gorgeous pictures. No matter the color,
they're just beautiful. My favorites are 4 &
5. And I sure enjoyed watching it rain
leaves.

Precious pix!

I believe that the gravity question was answered by Fig, a rather

smart cookie. And what about that

peaceful sound, I could listen to that all day.

HAPPY PASTY-VERSARY MARY DREW...

Pasty Queen Mother!! You got LOTS of years here,
and you sure still teach us something, or show us
something, or.....

YOU are totally important to quite a few of us~!
Thank you for YOUR Service!~ You rock! And you know
we love you dearly!!

By Mary Drew at Pasty Central (Mdrew) on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 - 07:07 pm:

Aw, thanks, Donna. I can always count on you to remind me when it's my Pasty Cam anniversary. I started this day in 2003, so 19 years at it...that always shocks me how long it's been. It's fun, educational for me and I've made a number of friends that I never would have known if not for Pasty.com. Plus, I've learned so much about places in the U.P., sometimes I forget that I haven't been somewhere, as it seems like I have been through the photos that all the photographers share and the information I research to write
about them.

A HUGE thank you to all you folks that share your talents so freely, you are appreciated more than you know and I couldn't do this job without you and all the visitors, those that post on the pages and those that just look at the photos and read the comments, too! The Pasty Cam is a team of folks that make it happen.

Happy pastyversary, Mary. Thanks for all you
do to keep this going.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 - 10:34 pm:

Whoa, I've actually been here longer than Mary?? Amazing.... ;-)

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 - 11:50 pm:

Beautiful pics & video as always!! We got out to
Gratiot River Park a few times this past summer
and even enjoyed a bbq out there!

I echo Donna's kind words, Mary... you are very
important to all of us, thank you for bringing us
a slice of the Keweenaw and the U.P. to us on a
daily basis like you do!! You do ROCK and so does
Jim!! We love you and I think Charlie is going to
need to step up and pass along a raise!! :=)) I
look forward to getting on this site on almost a
daily basis because of your narration and
comments.

I'm fortunate to call you my friend, thanks again.

AMEN U.C.....time for a big raise for our favorite
Pasty Queen Mother!

By Dave Van Dyk (Daveincolumbus) on Saturday, October 29, 2022 - 10:27 pm:

A big AMEN to all the thanks for Mary for keeping
this site going. It's important to me, too, as a
Yooper-in-exile, to get a look at the Keweenaw and
the U.P. every day.

THANK YOU!!
