Autumn isn’t complete until you’ve taken a drive on the Covered Road and that’s just what Deb and Ron Simons did recently. The first photo is on the way there, on the Houghton Canal if I’m not mistaken, just look at the colors there. But the Covered Road is not a main thoroughfare here in the Copper Country, it is actually a County Road called S63. Driving it eventually brings you to Freda, the Redridge Dam and Lake Superior. Locally it’s just known as the Covered Road and if you mention that name, folks that grew up here, know exactly where you mean. It’s pretty any time of year, but in the fall it’s an outstanding drive as you can see from Deb’s photos. When the tunnel of leaves are bright yellow like this, it seems like someone has turned the lights on overhead. Stunning indeed!

And just to stir up the peace and quiet of our drive through the tunnel of colors, we head back to Copper Harbor with Steve Brimm for 20 Seconds of Autumn. He captured Lake Superior quite stirred up and crashing on the rocks during a recent wind storm. The power of Lake Superior is always something to see!

My favorite picture is the 2nd one, where it
looks as if the road never ends. Always my
favorite look when we go there. We've had
such an amazing time this year, driving to
as many places as we had time for, checking
out the colors. Never was it a
disappointment. The Houghton canal side was
more colorful than the Hancock canal side.
But it was all beautiful.

Video was beautiful. It's nice when there's
rocks to splash against, making the waves
that much better.
