Deb Simons scored a double-header this week, with photos yesterday and more today. They were on their way home from a quick trip to Escanaba when the sky lit up around Keweenaw Bay between L’Anse and Baraga. First the puffy clouds were lit up from behind with the sun setting and then the sun peeked out as brilliant as could be just as it was going down, reflecting like the sun was right in the waters of Keweenaw Bay. Talk about being in the right place at the right time... absolutely stunning!
We have another view from the same area in today’s video, but from a little higher altitude. Nancy Haun shares a beautiful afternoon at the Bishop Baraga Shrine looking out at Keweenaw Bay and a glimpse of the Shrine, too.

Right place at the right time was exactly what I said. I'd taken more photos before I got there but deleted all of them in favor of these. God's canvas.
Loved Nancy's video as well. What a beautiful area that we get to call home.

Very interesting that the light intensity from the reflection is substantially greater than from the incidence angle of direct observation. There must have been a hole in the clouds more visible on the water.
