Melanie Hakala Rossi took a Keweenaw cruise over the weekend and found some impressive ice around the Eagle Harbor Lighthouse. I didn’t ask, but I’m guessing she may have had some ice cleats to get out on the ice to capture these photos. It’s quite amazing, the amount of ice encased around what looks like a cedar branch in her second and third photos. Equally impressive are the last two photos of what looks like an ice cave and then an ice tunnel. Check out how bright the ‘tunnel’ is in that last photo, I’m thinking it had a natural skylight above, as in a hole that may have been the opening for an ice volcano before the water froze up there. Someone posted that Melanie captures the beauty of this area so well and I wholeheartedly agree, she sure does.

Neil. I've said it before, the roads look so
perfectly manicured, makes it all look so beautiful,
clean and white. Not the same in the big city, any
snow we get looks dirty right away. I miss it, wish
I could take a road trip, maybe in March??
