Marcy Bessolo Hermanson made a winter snowshoe trek out to the Bete Grise Preserve to check out the ice and snow there. Here’s what she had to say about the adventure: “Solo snowshoe at the Bete Grise Preserve. Broke trail almost 3 miles. Peaceful. Just about complete silence. Exhausting, but fun! Lots more snow/ice than last year at this time. As I get older, I like Winter less and less. But, once I am out there, I am reminded just how much I love our Keweenaw, and all it has to offer!” Marcy has the right idea and I’m right there with her about winter as we get older, but truly, once you get bundled up and out there moving, the beauty overtakes all that and the appreciation sets in. Thanks for reminding us to push through and get out there, Marcy!

I had never heard of Simon Beck previously, but thanks to Jim – Wvyooper, who sent this to me as a possible Pasty video since it involves lots of snow, I do now. Simon Beck is a British snow artist and a former cartographer. He has been called the world's first snow artist, he is most known for his landscape snow art created on large areas of untouched snow. His work appeared in the news after he completed snow art at Banff National Park in Alberta and at Powder Mountain in Utah. He has walked more than 50 miles in circles wearing snowshoes to create bigger than life snow art like you see in today’s video.

I love that area also. It's nice of Marcy
to brave the elements like that for us. I
think I saw these pictures on FB but I like
that they're on here too, so our pasty
friends can also see them.

The video was cool. I've never seen
anything like that as far as I can remember.
And remembering is getting less and less
every year, lol.

For those of you who aren't retired, enjoy
your Monday. I sure used to appreciate
these holidays when I was working at the
bank.
