Jeff Dennis and family have a wildlife cam at their camp out at Little Traverse and it captures the best shots of the deer that frequent their shoreline on Lake Superior. I think that’s part of why their photos are so appealing, because the background is the Big Lake. But the visiting deer do display some interesting antics, too. I think my favorite of the four today, is the deer standing on the deck. Jeff actually snapped this one himself, not with the cam and said that it was a good thing he ran out there that morning, as a “neighbor” had stopped by to borrow a cup of sugar. Actually, it looks like the deer have a regular trail across their deck.

The bottom photo was from Sunday, when the Super Bowl was getting ready to take place, so Jeff thought this group of deer were getting together to play their own football game on the snow-covered beach. Looks like the one standing up on the right is trying to block the ball. Go Traverse Deer!

picture. We went to Eagle River to see the
deer this week and there were two who did
that a few times. We weren't sure if they
were playing or fighting. So cool because
I'd never seen that before.

Considering that it is getting toward the end of winter, those deer look healthy and pretty well fed. I wonder if there is an abundance of natural food about or are they getting some human "care packages"?

When deer do that..they are fighting for food
rights. I got one of the best pics ever....looked
wild. One deer standing straight up...front legs up
over her head..the other deer was bracing for the
hit. Awesome. Yeah, they'll fight for food.

And they squat while pottying. lol...I spent many a
year watching critters. Spoiled them rotten too.
