Barbara Bouwkamp recently took a ride near Phoenix in the Keweenaw. She captured a neat shot of Elmo’s Tower, with big snowflakes coming down in the scene, too. From there, she checked out the Cliff’s, which you can see are dressed well in snow. There’s just something about these Cliffs that fascinate me in every season. I’ve been up on them in the spring, summer and fall, but never in the winter months. The view from the top of those cliffs is quite amazing.
The last two photos are on the Cliff Drive Road. Looks like clear sailing with two wide lanes to travel, but looks can be deceiving as Barbara found out. She was driving along on two lanes and then POOF, no lanes, just a snowmobile trail. Those are Barbara’s car tracks from turning around, in the last photo. She said she didn’t see a sign saying it wasn’t plowed through, but also said she may have missed it if there was. My guess is she was so busy looking at the beautiful Cliffs, she didn’t see it.
Abbey Herndon takes us on a snowshoe adventure on the Cliffs. They snowshoed up the cliff and almost made it to the top, but it got too steep and rocky. She said next time they will try a different trail!

Love the Cliffs! Thanks for the great views of this special area!
Wonder why they would plow only 1/2 the road - did it provide access to a specific area?

More nice pictures. I especially like the 1st 4th, & 5th ones.
Looked like the snowshoers were enjoying their day out in this winter wonderland.
