Today’s photos from Brita Haapala were taken last week after a storm dumped on us and there was a two hour delay for the start of school. You can see from the piles of snow that the snow removal crew made, why they needed the extra time to get things cleared around the Calumet School buildings. Look at that one pile, it’s as tall as the tree it’s up against. That’s a lot of snow to push around. You might be saying no thanks, too much snow and cold, but then you look at Brita’s bottom photo and see that Lake Superior north shore January sunset and the beauty of it makes it worth it for many of us that live UP here in the winters.

I guess I should quit complaining about the measly 11 inches we've gotten so far here in northern Illinois. But we are still all in the same frozen vortex at the moment.
