Seems as though December has come in with a roar, winds creating Superior waves in the first couple days of the month, were captured by 906 Images. They commented that Lake Superior has been pretty wild the past couple weeks and checking out their photos here today, yes, it’s looking quite wild, crashing and splashing the shoreline rocks near Presque Isle Park. I really enjoy reading the comments that folks add when photos like this are posted... ”she can get angry”, “beautiful shots”, “majesty and power” and one of my favorites... ”I always took it for granted growing up on Lake Superior! Now I miss it so much!”. That one there always reminds me that I often take all the beauty and majesty that surrounds me each and every day, for granted and I need that wake-up comment to make me appreciate it all again. One of the perks of being an editor here on the Pasty Cam for the past 18 years, daily reminders of the beauty of the U.P.

And the beauty is often the power of Lake Superior. 906 Images video proves that with a look at what they called a “wicked” day at the Blackrocks. Those rocks are the ones people jump off when the Big Lake is calm and are normally about 15 feet above the water then. Pretty amazing display of Superior’s power.

I always love to see and hear the roar of the Big Lake. I can understand though how those out there can often not appreciate the feel of it. One look at this wind map tells the story of why the Lakers are staying near to the Keweenaw Bay and hugging the south shore.

Those are spectacular! I love this lake so
much. I came to appreciate it much more when
I lived away from here. I always loved it
though. There's nothing like it. And the
video is amazing.

Didn't get on here yesterday but I just
wanted to say that it was 13 years since my
dad passed away. I still miss him every day.
