I’m so happy for Deb Simons and Mr. Deb, that the weather has been beautiful for their retirement move to the Copper Country. The fall colors have been amazing, to say the least and they’ve been able to experience a number of different areas to check out the Autumn fanfare. We’re heading to Freda with them today. Deb said her Dad was born there and then later moved to Houghton, but he always loved Freda and he passed that love on to Deb, then also. You can see from Deb’s photos, that it is so peaceful there, I can imagine the quiet in those pictures, too. Plenty of history there from the mining days, like in the smokestack shot, which you can see a bit of the concrete remains of the mill there.
The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau shares a video with a bit of the history of the Freda area. The voice you hear telling some of that history is Clyde Durocher, who is a cousin of Deb’s.

Oh my goodness, it's fun to think back to that day. It was such a fun one. We were all over that day, checking out fall in the Copper Country. We've loved being here for the whole season. It's been a long time. And the colors have definitely not disappointed us.
Beautiful pics and really neat & interesting video. Thanks for the tour!!
