You might say that Isaac Diener, from Isaac Diener Photography is somewhat of a night owl or maybe an early bird, as the lightning shots here today, were snapped at 4 a.m. in an early morning display over Hancock. Then he pushed the shutter button for the Aurora photo reflecting in Portage Lake around 3 a.m. another early/late shift. Both weather phenomenon are great to observe in person, but if you’re not a night owl/early bird, then Isaac’s photography is the next best way to enjoy the lightning and auroras.
We join Michigan Rocks and two familiar faces, Dr. Nat and Capt. Paul at the Cliff Mine for a Geology lesson on what they found on their excursion in the Keweenaw.

An old rock pile sure became interesting with geologists showing us what is there.

Super pix and a very nicely done video! It's good to see Captain Methuselah walking around a bit. :-)

This is just beyond awesome! I love Michigan Rocks vids...I'm subscribed...he's from downstate, has a couple of sisters up here and hits the Keweenaw annually. When he's with the Rock God and Goddess, it just doesn't get any better!

Those pictures are fantastic. Now that we live here and don't have to go to work on the morning, I'd love to catch the northern lights. I do likemy sleep though. So I may decide to sleep in for a while. Thanks for sharing. I couldn't get the video for some reason.
