If you’ve never kayaked, it’s a really relaxing way to get out on the water and see things that you otherwise might not get to view. Beth Jukuri and a friend were out on Chassell Bay recently paddled up the Sturgeon River, too. Calm waters are the way to go if you want it to be a relaxing paddle. Rough waters make it a bit more harried, so I prefer calm over wavy. Being in the midst of lily pads is neat and if you happen to see a frog, it’s a bonus! Try it out if you haven’t yet, some places rent them out or if you have a friend with a spare kayak, ask them to take you out for a paddle. You might just get hooked on the sport.
Check out the best kayaking places in the Escanaba area. You’ll see what I mean about different views from the water side of life.
