We have a new photographer contributing an adventure today, Eric Hermanson. If his last name seems familiar, that’s because we’ve featured photos from his wife Marcy here before. They went on a kayak excursion recently, along the Jacobsville/White City Sandstone cliffs. It’s one of the most beautiful areas to paddle, with amazing sandstone formations all along the way. It looks like they had the ideal day to do so, too, as the Big Lake cooperated by keeping her waters calm for their adventure. Eric described it perfectly as, “A lazy, hazy, calm, dog day of summer.”
If you ever get the chance to take this adventure, jump at it. Just make sure you choose a calm day, as there is a long stretch where you cannot go ashore because of the high cliffs. With that being said, it’s well worth the paddling.
Steven Baumann gives us a lesson on the Jacobsville Sandstone found at Point Isabelle in Keweenaw County, up the Lake Superior shore a ways from the cliffs in today’s photos.

Nice pix and a decent video, but it's not a "Dr.
Nat Production".
