It’s that time of year it seems, when critters in the wild are raising their young. Today we have Deer and their offspring, courtesy of Beth Jukuri for the first three photos and Jean Dessellier for the fourth shot.
Beth captured the first two photos on her mail route, as the family was crossing the rode in front of her. Thankfully, Beth saw them in plenty of time and was able to get her camera out for a couple shots. I sure hope the doe are teaching their fawns how to cross the road without getting hurt. Beth’s third photo shows two young bucks she spotted on the side of the road a bit later. Just stubs beginning for antlers and all covered in velvet. They’re looking pretty healthy, too.
The bottom photo was snapped by Jean Dessellier as this Mom and baby visited her backyard sanctuary. The critters visit there often, so they must feel safe and then don’t mind posing for Jean to take photos.
Today’s video is a dandy and one you won’t see very often. It was shared by Tourism Sault Ste. Marie and shows a Moose locking through the Soo Locks from the Lake Superior side to the Lake Huron side. They said the Moose was a little lost, so the thoughtful Canal team closed the west lock and lowered the Moose to the Huron side. Then off it went to shallow water and was on its way.

So many tiny fawns out there right now - be careful driving!
Alas, the moose perished after reaching shore and then re-entering the river.

So cool. So many folks are sharing pics of fawns bedded down in their yards, etc...it's so awesome~

Oh no, I hadn't heard that the moose didn't make it. That's so sad. Here's a link to the article about it's passing, if you're interested in more about what happened: Moose story.
