The ‘Ring of fire’ Annular Solar Eclipse occurred last Thursday, June 10th. Paul Nelson, the man behind the camera at The Creator’s Hand Photography was on hand to capture it. He also describes the eclipse much better than I ever could, so the following are his words:
“Last Thursday, there was an Annular Solar Eclipse, which is different than a Total Solar Eclipse in that the Moon is on the further reaches of it's elliptical orbit so when it lined up between the Sun and Earth it wasn't large enough relative to Earth to completely block the Sun, leaving a ring of the Sun's surface around the dark circle of the Moon. The "Ring of Fire" was only visible on an arc from central Canada to Russia. Here in Michigan's Upper Peninsula the eclipse was well under way and the Sun only partially eclipsed at sunrise. It was also initially blocked by clouds on the horizon, so I had to wait until it climbed above the clouds to photograph it and missed the initial few minutes when the crescent was thinnest. It was still neat to be able to see a Crescent Sun over Lake Superior around 10 miles from my house. I think the clouds did add some character.”
Nice job, Paul and thanks for sharing with us all.
