You see them coming down the road, sometimes loaded with logs, other times empty, the subjects of Brita Haapala’s latest series of photos. She captured the road more traveled by various loggers on their way to the mill with a loaded truck or on their way back to the woods to load the truck again. Brita made this observation: “Loggers have a pretty sweet job. They see the most beautiful scenes out there in the woods.” I tend to agree, except they do have to endure a few hardships to enjoy that beauty, such as frigid temperatures this time of year and bugs in the summer months. But I’m guessing they’re quite used to that and maybe don’t even notice them anymore. Brita has that “special eye” to capture the beauty like today’s photos with the sky, the snow and the pop of color from the logging trucks. I fully expected to see a logging truck pass us by on the drive that Brita took, too. She said she doesn’t normally listen to Classical music, but as she drove north, the radio station she had been listening to, turned to static and the Classical tunes were all she could find. She thought it seemed fitting!
