Beth Jukuri isn’t always on her mail route snapping pictures, some days she gets out to explore in different places, like this day she was at McLain State Park here in the Keweenaw. She commented that her lucky eyes saw lots of fun sights along the way. I really love how she framed the Upper Entry Lighthouse in the second photo...can you spot it? And for some reason, the tree trunk and leaves, really catches my eye. It would make a nice canvas print.
But the last two photos I think are my favorites. The rock path to Lake Superior is so neat. I’m not sure if Beth constructed this walkway or if it was already there, but it sure is a fun activity for whoever made it and the fun continues for others who come across it in their travels.
The bottom photo is Beth’s haul of Omar Rocks. Looks like she hit the jackpot finding them that day. In case you don’t know what Omars are, here’s a little info from Wikipedia:
“Omarolluks, sometimes shortened to omars, are a distinctive type of glacial erratic that consists of dark siliceous greywacke and exhibits prominent rounded, often deep, hemispherical voids and pits. ... Because scientists know precisely where they came from they are very valuable in documenting the movement of glaciers.”
Interesting stuff we learn, just from folks like Beth sharing their photos with us.
October is passing by quickly it seems. But this video from Five Aces Media will make it last a little longer for us all.
