I was looking through the myriad of photos in the Pasty Gallery albums recently and came across some Fall photos from 1940, nestled in Brian Rendel’s Gallery Album, titled Bert DeVriendt Shoebox. I thought it would be fun to share them 80 years after they were taken.
We start off with a photo Bert DeVriendt took in Dollar Bay, back in 1940, of Mr. Garvin Mitchell, with Joanne and Bud Mitchell. Looks like they may be heading off to church, all dressed up like that or maybe Mr. Mitchell is walking the kids to school and then he’ll go off to the office.
The next two photos from Bert, were titled “Frog Pool Hill in Houghton”. I’m not quite sure where this location is. I did a Google search and only came up with Frog Pool Lane, which is the small side street between Applebees and Sleeman’s Greenhouse. So, if you can tell us where Frog Pool Hill is, feel free!
Today’s Fall teaser is from Jeremy Vore, with a look at the colors just south of Marquette.

Beautiful! When we retire, it'll be nice to be able
to just drop everything (which will be nothing), and
take a drive just to see the colors.

Thank you so much for maintaining this beautiful
page. I especially love the fall color photos;
that's always been my favorite time of year.
You're making me homesick again!
