We continue on the saga of adventures with Beth Jukuri and her beautiful granddaughter. They have a special bond and make innumerable memories together, exploring, kayaking, bike riding and more. Today we join them on a hike from the Quincy Mine on Quincy Hill, over to the top of Mont Ripley. Beth said they walked down the Quincy Mine tram tracks until they came to the trail that leads to the top of the Ski Hill, where they met her granddaughter’s Mom (Beth’s daughter) who had hiked up the ski hill to meet them. Both Beth and her granddaughter love these adventures together.

Check out those views from Mont Ripley, too. I don’t care how many times I’ve seen these vistas, they always fascinate me with all you can take in from this vantage point, both across the canal and so far beyond. One of these days, that’s going to be my destination, so as to see it in person, for myself.

We’re enjoying “One Minute of Summer” with Michigan Technological University today. The lead in to this video says: “Summer never quite seems long enough when it’s gone. Good thing we packed so much in. Summer at Michigan Tech means getting outdoors in every way possible. On the water, on trails, and overland, the Upper Peninsula in the summertime? There’s no better place on Earth.”

I agree with that last sentence 100%!

Classic UP blue, once again...love it!
And Mary "One of these days, that’s going to be my destination"...I'd get out there ASAP if I were you, tomorrow never comes.

I've always loved the view from up there. I was disappointed on my most recent stop at the roadside pull-off on US-41 near the top. The home or property owners just down the hill had allowed the trees and vegetation to almost completely block the view.

Alex,
As soon as I get my knee fixed (torn meniscus surgery in 3 weeks), just let me know when you're ready and I'll come pick you up for a road trip.

Beautiful pic's and cool video!!

Thanks D.A., that is very kind of you to offer, but I'm afraid M.S. would not allow it.
Good luck with the knee surgery, ask your Dr. about leg extension exercises after you have healed.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, July 11, 2020 - 07:49 pm:

D.A. meniscus surgery has a pretty easy
recovery. I've had it done on both knees.
Surgery on Thursday and back to work on Monday
both times. Good luck.

Ahhhh. Summer in the UP.

By D. A. (Midwested) on Saturday, July 11, 2020 - 08:30 pm:

Thanks for the encouraging words Deb. Hopefully the surgery centers will still be open for "elective" in 3 weeks.

I got an email every time you've posted this evening, all 17 times, LOL. You've really been on a tear catching up and refilling the old Pasty Cam tank.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, July 11, 2020 - 11:37 pm:

D.A. yes. It seems that every time I get an
update for pasty, I'm at work and I can't get on
here. Don't normally think about it after work
and anyway it's summer so I'm not in the house
much. Today we were both wiped out from being
busy in the heat and just kind of relaxed. So I
got caught up with all of the pasty pictures.

I hear you about the elective. I have elbow work
that needs to be done but not sure when that will
happen. But don't sweat the surgery. It really
is pretty easy. My 2nd one wasn't as easy
because they discovered I have no cartilage. So
I will need a replacement at some point. For now
a brace is helping. But you'll do fine.
