After the dousing of snow we had in the U.P. just a week ago, it’s nice to see the colors of Spring that Joy Ziemnick spotted around the Keweenaw recently. The flowers in the first shot are so colorful and pretty, but the name makes me a bit nervous, they’re called Glory of the Snow. I sure hope they aren’t a sign we’ll be getting more snow in May. I’m ready for spring already.

The remaining signs of Spring from Joy have wings and they migrate back to these parts when it’s Spring, so that has to be a good sign. The Mourning Cloak Butterfly is quite distinct and beautiful. The Hermit Thrush migrates in the early spring. The Yellowlegs Sandpipers are shorebirds that you’ll often see along the water’s edge, running along quickly on those yellow legs. All wonderful signs of Spring!

Our video gives us a glimpse of a kaleidoscope of Tiger Swallowtail Butterflies on the shores of Lake Superior near Pendills Bay and Whitefish Bay, between Brimley and Paradise. I didn’t know butterflies enjoyed the beach!

What gorgeous pictures and vid today~

My sis lives in Gay. She said she saw an Indigo
Bunting and an Evening Grosbeak the other day!

Don't worry Mary, Spring has Sprung!

And a long time ago, a friend and I watched
butterflies just like this...someone had spilled
pop, and they were sucking up the sugar!

Neeto! Looks like a family reunion.

I'm not feeling good about the kaleidoscope of butterflies (yes, I looked it up) regarding their lack of social distancing.

So I've been wondering...
In 9 months which side will dominate the human birthrate?
1) The social distancers
or
2) The ones sheltering at home.

So that's what those purple flowers are called.
I never knew.
