Not only does George C. Bailey lose sleep to get the great photos, but he nearly freezes himself in the process, too. These were taken overlooking Lake Superior near Dans Point, west of Copper Harbor. He said that this was the hardest shoot that he can remember. With 28 mph winds making a zero wind chill, it felt like knives were going through his fingers, but he had to get just one more picture, just one more picture... I’m glad he persevered to get the shots, and also happy he didn’t get frost bitten fingers! Thanks for braving the Keweenaw winds and wind chills for our pleasure, George. The majority of us wouldn’t get to see the beauty of these Auroras this time of year, without you.
We’re staying in the Copper Harbor area for today’s video adventure with Steve Brimm, showing the winter coat that the Harbor wears.

Duck Island in winter - love it! My grandfather bought it in the 1950's and my cousin owns it now. Spent many summer vacations there. Thanks for bringing back so many great memories.
