There are some places in the Keweenaw that are unique and keep drawing visitors to stop time and time again. Barbara Bouwkamp stopped at two of those spots this past week while exploring UP North. Esrey Park on M-26 between Eagle Harbor and Copper Harbor is a popular picnic spot in the summer, but this time of year, it’s pretty much abandoned. No picnicking, swimming or agate picking here, today and forget about climbing the steps in the second photo, although it does look like there are a few footprints headed that way.
Barbara’s last photo was taken on the road to the Eagle Harbor Marina. I’m sure there’s an interesting story about the tree in the middle of the road there, it’s really a unique attraction. If you’re the plow driver for that stretch of road, you have to be paying attention, so you remember to go around the tree both ways. It looks like the snowbanks don’t build up around it like they do on the sides of the road there.
We’re checking out some Winter clips from Escanaba to Marquette today, with Kilbourn Media. Always neat to see things from a bird’s eye view.

That last tree looks like the one in the middle of
the end of the road at Lake Manganese!
