It was the annual Pigs N Heat fundraiser this past Saturday at the Michigan Tech SDC. The hockey game is a huge fundraiser put on by the local police agencies and firefighters each year, to fund their Copper Country Police and Fire Relief Fund to aid victims of fire, crime and other emergencies.
Taana Blom was there, actually watching the game from one of the prime viewing spots, a Skybox. She snapped the first photo as they were approaching the SDC, with all the Emergency vehicles parked with lights flashing to welcome the attendees. Her second photo was during the game, with that “birds-eye” view from the Skybox.
The second set of photos were taken by Barbara Bouwkamp who also attended. She captured a shot of the Scoreboard/Big Screen where they were showing shots of the firemen in action between periods. Her last photo was of the policemen and firemen showing their sportsmanship with a friendly handshake at the end of the game. I searched the Internet last night to try to find out who won the game, but I couldn’t come up with a documented score and winner. Maybe one of our viewers can chime in with the results if they know.
Our video today is from a previous Pigs N Heat game newscast. I thought it was interesting because it talks about the game, the tradition and what the money is raised for.
