Our Eagle Harbor Township roving reporter was out bracing himself against what he described as “driving wind, pounding waves, copious snow and biting wind chills”. George C. Bailey doesn’t let a little wild weather stop him from snapping photos and recording videos to share with those of us less fortunate, that don’t live on the shores of Lake Superior. He knows the perks he has being there daily to watch the many faces the Big Lake takes on in all the varied weather. I’m grateful that he’s always so willing to share his view with the rest of us.
In the video George made, you can see that the “ice mountains” are forming, with the waves crashing in and spraying icy water that freezes almost instantly in the chilly air. Take note of the waves, too, they look like they can’t decide which way to go and are haphazardly going every which way at times.

Nice video that captures the power of nature. If only we could harness the energy of those waves.
