Today’s photos come to us from Nancy Haun with the view coming down 38 into Baraga a few days back. That’s Keweenaw Bay and across the Bay is the Indian Pinery Road. In the center right of the photo you can see St. Ann’s Church Cross atop the steeple.
Nancy’s second photo shows the deer dealing with all the snow we’ve gotten. It was taken yesterday morning after the Baraga area received another 5” of snow. The deer have a more difficult time finding food when the snow starts getting deeper like this. It probably won’t be long before they head to the “deer yards” where local sportsman clubs feed them for the winter months.
For our video viewing pleasure, we have a visit to a cabin in the Baraga area sometime back. There was just about the same amount of snow then, too.

Better have good brakes going over & down that hill (note the speed limit is 50)! Yikes!

The road levels out at the bottom of the hill, which means you only make it about halfway across the bay in the winter time.

I don't know a lot about Baraga but I'm always happy to see the deer get fed. The little girl in the video was adorable.
