When I was asking Judy Byykkonen about her photos from the hike she took on the Black Creek Nature Sanctuary Trail, she mentioned that we are lucky to have so many options around here in the Keweenaw for hiking and walking our dogs. Today’s photos show you one of these great spots, with a 2.5 mile, moderately difficult hiking trail that runs along three creeks, past active beaver cuttings and workings, a lagoon and wildlife gathering sites along the way. If like me, you haven’t been there yet, it’s time to get out there and get hiking, before winter arrives.
To get there from US-41 on the North end of Calumet, turn West onto M-203 and travel about 1.25 miles to Tamarack Waterworks road and turn right. Travel 2.5 miles to Cedar Bay road and follow it for about 2.5 miles until reaching the Black Creek trailhead sign on the right about .2 miles from the end of the public road. Park alongside the road.
We’re taking a color tour of the Western U.P. today, with a few of the “other” seasons thrown in for good measure. Adventure awaits at Michigan’s Trailhead.

Judy sure does have fun. I'm really happy she
chooses to share all of it with us.

Beautiful pics and video...and a UP video wouldn't be complete without a motorcycle tour.
