Deb and Ron Simons made a color tour trip to the U.P. last week. The peak colors weren’t in full force yet, but they saw a bit of color from the top of Copper Peak Ski Jump Hill near Ironwood. Deb said you ride the chairlift up the hill to the ski jump. Then you take the elevator up the ski jump and you can choose to climb the final 8 floors or just stay there where the elevator stops. Ron climbed, Deb didn’t, but she took the steps to the bottom where the chair lift is and her legs were shaking by the time she reached that point. Then she said you take the chairlift back down to the bottom. Deb said it was really steep and a little scary actually, but fun, too, with a breathtaking view. Sounds like quite the adventure! Years ago we climbed up when we were little. Not now with my fear of heights! Beautiful view!

I was up there years ago. The view from the top is amazing, especially this time of year when the leaves are in colour. Nat and I were in SW Colorado in the San Juan Mountains last week the colours there are amazing! One thing I had to chuckle at was the Michigan historic site sign where it states "a still visible tunnel into the granite rock." Copper Peak sits on rhyolite, an extrusive volcanic rock. That I know of, there is no granitic rock in that area. ;-)

Well, I had a whole paragraph typed here and
lost it. So frustrating. Mary, thanks for
sharing our pictures. It was quite an
experience. Now that it's over, I'm very glad
I did it. The view was breathtaking. They say
you can see Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota
from up there.

We also took the chairlift in the Porkies. I
liked that a little better because Lake
Superior was always in view and the blue was so
deep and rich. You couldn't stop looking.

JBuck, Ron's knees aren't a whole lot better.
He just refuses to let the pain keep him down.
He's got a brace and a walking stick for help.
He's also now looking at a shoulder
replacement. I keep telling him I didn't sign
up for this lol. But, in all reality, I'd go
through anything with him.
