Last week one day, the winds were whipping, so Judy Byykkonen went to check out the waves that were crashing on Lake Superior’s shores. She admits to having a bit of an obsession with the Big Lake, as many of us do, those that have grown up on her shores and those that have visited and become enthralled with the beauty and wonder of this powerful Lake. You can see in Judy’s shots, that the water is sandy colored, showing how the waves have stirred up the sand from the bottom.
Judy also made a video that day. Turn up your sound so you can hear the waves crashing, along with the wind blowing against the microphone, too. Amazing power in both the wind and the water that day. That’s Zelda at the end of the video, who Judy says absolutely loves the water!

Hi Big waves are fascinating, though sometimes dangerous. Sorta like a good thunderstorm.

We agree!

I never seem to be on that lake when the waves are like this. I've only ever seen the lake crazy like that up in Duluth. So much fun to watch the power of this lake.
