The 41st annual Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Maawanji’iding Pow Wow took place this weekend at the Ojibwa Campground in Baraga. Nancy Haun was there and shares today’s photos and video from the Grand Entry at the beginning of the Pow Wow. Nancy said it was a beautiful, breezy night with a packed dance circle. There were many spectators there to watch the festivities, the traditional dances and the beautiful attire worn to perform these intricate dances.
Nancy’s video is just over fourteen minutes long, but so worth the time to watch and be able to see the dancing, hear the drumming and enjoy the traditions of this event.
