Before the Lake Linden Firemen set off the fireworks on the 3rd of July, boaters gather around Torch Lake to view them from the water, while many other folks are in the park or somewhere surrounding the town. Chad Johnson and John Kurkowski chose a unique method, kayaking from the Traprock Bridge to watch the fireworks. Sure looks like a fun time. Chad said they “hugged” the shoreline, while the bigger boats were on the opposite shore. Then on the way back in the dark, he wore a “headlight” to light the way and find where they needed to land the kayaks near the vehicle. He also said they applied plenty of bug repellent. But when they got to the spot where they needed to get out, they were immediately swarmed with thousands of no-see-ums, some of which they inhaled. Eww!!
Chad also made a video of the fireworks finale. So sit back and enjoy the snap, crackle, pop, from the comfort of Chad’s kayak, bugs not included!
