Barbara Bouwkamp has been anxious to get back out to the beach at their Big Traverse cottage, which she did this weekend and was happy to see the beach sand is back from under the winter ice cover, except where a bit of it is still sitting on the sand. In her first shot, you can see a patch of sandy ice just up the beach a bit, but for the most part the beach is back. But look, something else is there, that isn’t normally on Big Traverse sandy shore. Small rocks and pebbles have appeared this spring and as Barbara pointed out, they belong on the other shore. She even found a small agate there. It will be interesting to see what happens throughout the summer on this Lake Superior beach.
We’re taking in the Keweenaw Peninsula by drone in today’s video clip. The ice around these parts has been receding quite nicely, but I don’t think is as far gone as in the video, which was made a year ago this month.

Barb is lucky it's only some nice aggregate washing up. Be thankful it's not the Gay stamp sands yet. Unfortunately, they are on the way.
