If you’re wanting to get some more snowshoe adventures in before the snow all melts away, now is the time to get out there. The temperatures are warmer, the sun is shining more and more and there is still enough snow around in the woods, so take advantage of it all while you can. Melanie Hakala Rossi and friends are doing just that. They were out somewhere near the Forsman Road in the Mason area trekking around and found streams opened up and running. The first photo shows where a build-up of snow that had covered the branch over the stream let loose after a few folks had crossed already...oops, no more crossing there that day. Then Melanie came across the unusual icicles formed from the snow hanging over the riverbank. Nature sure forms some beauty for us all to enjoy...thanks to photographers like Melanie that share what they find with us all.
The stream in today’s video excursion isn’t the same one that Melanie and company crossed, but I bet this is what it sounded like while they were there in the woods. So peaceful!

Early spring in the UP! Still snow everywhere, but brilliant sunshine like it's the first day of the world! You can wear a T-shirt and get a tan if you keep moving! (day pack with warmer clothes, firestarting materials, granola bars and bivvy shelter strongly recommended, however!). Love this time of year!

Seeing ourselves as others see us wouldn't do much good-we wouldn't believe it anyway.
