The Quincy Mining Dredge #2 was originally built in 1914 by Calumet and Hecla Mining Company, but then was sold to the Quincy Mining Company. It sunk in 1967 and has remained there in Mason since. Brad Deforge was there this past week snapping drone photos of the Dredge and surrounding area, giving a great perspective of the old mining campus. With the snow and ice cover, it sure doesn’t look like it’s sunk in the water, but more like it’s surrounded by snow covered land, instead. It’s part of our Copper Country mining history and draws a number of visitors, including college students studying in the area. There are (or were) signs posted in the last few years, that it is private property, no trespassing, so please only visit from afar (as Brad did) or online (like today’s video).

When The 906 Adventure visited the site, they went inside the Dredge, too. The videographer takes us along, including a history lesson about the building and how it was used in the mining process. This is a great way to check it out without trespassing.

Very interesting, but I have to say, that it kinda gave me the willie's when he was walking around in there especially on the ice covered parts!! Nice job Brad!!

Still off work recovering from my Achilles tendon surgery that will hopefully take the pressure off the ball of my right foot and close the continuous ulcers that I get there. I'm out of the non weight bearing surgical boot as of last week and walking to strengthen my leg again, with a bit of pain I might add. Find out on 4/4 if the third surgery will be necessary.... fingers crossed.

Have a great week Pasty friends!!

This is outstanding. I've never seen it in the
winter. And..this is Dredge number two. Number one
is sunk totally in 40 feet of water. So darn
interesting!

Someone call (click →) Tony Beets, at Tamarack, Inc., Dawson City, YT Canada. He'll spend a $Million or two moving that dredge to Paradise Hill, near Dawson City in the Yukon and restoring it.

Maybe he can do that over the summer this year instead of hanging out in Arizona!

Thanks for the update UC. Hoping the pain goes away and the surgery was completely successful!

Hoping for good news for you, Uncle Chuck. Nothing worse than pain when you're walking. Prayers that the surgery worked. Hope you're keeping yourself busy during your healing time. I sure chuckled at Alex's comment...ha, ha, ha.
