Complete
Equipment Roster for the
Copper Range Railroad
This is a list of all the equipment owned
by the Copper Range Railroad from 1899 until 1972. I am sure it is not 100% correct at
this time. My focus has been pre 1920 so my post 20's is a little weak. I would like to
make it 100% complete with your help, so we can all be right. If you have corrections or
additions please contact me here (Kevin
Musser)
List compiled by Kevin E. Musser with help from: Michigan
Tech Archives,
Interstate Commerce Commission, R.W. Buhrmaster, Tim O'Connor, John F.
Campbell,
Leon Schaddelee, Dennis H. Leopold and Floyd Schmidt

Note A: 39 of the first 50 cars were sold off by McKeever in
1900. The remaining cars were renumbered 100-118.
Note B: Cars 100-118 were renumbered in 1910 to 139-150. Also
see Note C for car #135
Note C: Almost all of these cars were turned into Wood Rack
Cars by 1930. #135, they were a bit shorter in width and height. 145,146,154,155,167 had
the roofs and doors removed and had 1"x4" maple boards spaced 3" apart in
the door openings. #152, 156, 157, 165, 166, 169, 170 had their roofs and doors removed.
Sides and ends cut off to the belt rail and had posts made of 4"x4"x8' belted to
the outside of the car and to which were nailed maple boards of different lengths.
