Melanie Hakala Rossi and friends did some snowshoe exploring in the Bete Grise area recently. They were on the Nature Conservancy – Bete Grise Wetlands Preserve trails there and found some interesting artistry that Mother Nature adds to the winter landscape this time of year. Melanie also put her own touch of artistry on the scenes of the Mendota Lighthouse, with pancake ice floes in the channel. They look like stepping stones floating there, but of course are not safe to try and walk out on, unless you want to go for a wintry swim.
Since we’re in the area anyway, let’s join MI Playground for a Mount Bohemia Powder Day. The guys said it was a perfect day and from all the snow flying around and the chitter-chatter in the background of their video, I’d say they really enjoyed the day!

Interesting set, indeed! The first one is a haunting mind-blower. And the fourth one looks like a buck lost his genitalia while trying to clear that barbed wire fence.
