When Stacey Flood and friends get together for an adventure, they get outdoors and explore. Somewhere in the Keweenaw these friends went out on a Skiing adventure along Lake Superior’s shoreline and they found some massive ice and even some blue ice. Check out how small the person looks standing alongside that accumulated ice on the shore in the third photo. But the most interesting discovery was the ice caves they found. That’s Stacey laying down in one, taking a picture of her friends outside the cave, as they were taking a photo of her inside the cave. Quite a neat shot of the ice inside the cave, too.

We join Alexis Dahl for the True Story of the LC Waldo – Trapped Alive in a Frozen Shipwreck. The LC Waldo shipwrecked on Gull Island off the tip of the Keweenaw in the “White Hurricane of 1913”. It was one of the most brutal storms in Great Lakes History and Alexis shares the true story of the people on board the Waldo and their attempts at survival, along with how crews braved the “white hurricane” to try and save them. Alexis gives special thanks to Mark Rowe for reviewing and fact-checking the script for this video. And also thanks NordVPN for sponsoring the video.

I'm officially getting old! Those pics, beautiful as
they may be.... look a bit too cold for my liking.
lol

I'll have to watch the video later; I'm off to the
hyperbaric chamber soon.

Deb, we all hope you're feeling better soon!!

I'm over it also, Chuck. The only
good thing about being stuck in
the hospital for a week is the
weather stinks. Though still
beautiful, I'm ready to move on.

Thanks, UC. Afraid I've fallen
way behind on my communications
with good friends. Soon, maybe.

Hi
DebS & Uncle Chuck, I hope you both feel better
soon.

Actually, you can stay pretty warm cross-country
skiing. Although I did generally keep all my layers
on when I was by the shore of Lake Michigan or Lake
Huron in high winds.

Interesting video, for sure. I'll have to check my
copy of "Great Lakes Shipwrecks and Survivals".

Beautiful pics!
UC…don’t give up hope, you and I
will blaze a trail across that ice one
of these days.
Deb…glad to hear that you’re feeling
better!!! I’m getting better too.
