Here in the Keweenaw, we’ve had well over 200” of snow so far and looking at Deb & Ron Simons yard, you can see the snow mountains they’ve created with snowblowing the snow into “mountains”, one in the backyard (that’s Ron standing next to it to show the size) and one in the front of their house (that’s Deb standing there for reference on size).. They really don’t have another good way to move that snow out of their driveway for parking their vehicles, so mountains it is.
The remaining photos are their garage and house roof with the snow that’s piled up, then a picture after their metal roof on the house let loose of the snow. You’re probably thinking, wow, that’s pretty nice, not having to shovel off the roof. But hold on and check out that bottom photo. That’s Deb and Ron’s driveway and that’s the snow that slid off the house roof piled there blocking their vehicles from parking in the driveway. Deb said it took the two of them an hour and a half to move all that snow out of the way, to the back of their garage, scoopful by scoopful. Needless to say, even though they still love living here in the Yoop, they would be OK with not having to repeat that snow removal anytime soon. I don’t blame them!
We’ll take a break from the snow scooping and join MI Playground with “Why Snowshoes are so important during Michigan’s winter months.”
Also, don’t forget that CopperDog 2025 begins tomorrow, February 28th and goes through Sunday, March 2nd in Calumet. This link will take you to the schedule of events for each day: CopperDog Events There will also be a “Big Annie Warm UP” at the Elks Lodge in Calumet on Friday, February 28th, from 4 – 11, where you can warm up with chili or a sloppy joe. Then on Saturday, there’s a “Big Annie” Arts and Crafts Show at the Elks Lodge. For more information about this benefit for the “Big Annie” Statue Fund, click here: Big Annie Warm Up . Lots of fun to be had this entire weekend!

I don't know who thought metal roofs were a good thing, but I'd rather get up there and scoop it off a little at a time. And we do that with this roof too. Every time we go out to clear the driveway and decks, we each take part of the roof and clean it off as far as we can reach. I don't know what would happen if we didn't do that. The ice that fell off of the roof and into the driveway was thicker than Ron has gone ice fishing on. It's unbelievable. And it sounds like an avalanche as it's coming down. Ron had just been out there cleaning out as far a he could reach. I'm so grateful that he wasn't standing there when it came down. The next day, the rest of it came falling off. You can't say you don't get your exercise here in the Copper Country. I'd be OK with not that much.

Nice pics, but you can keep the snow Deb & Ron!! :=) That looks like plenty of work, please be careful and don't overdo it. Great advice on the snowshoes, they're tiring in themselves and without them, forget it, you'd be dead tired in no time!!
Hope you're feeling better each day MS Deb!!

Holy Wha! That is some snow! And yes...it is work. Hard work. wow..impressive Deb and Ron!
Lotsa cool stuff going on this weekend...
How are you feeling UC?
Snow shoes are good to have when you can use them. So are those little ice gripper things you put on your shoes...and back when a cane was used...they had little grippers you could put on them too...and they worked awesome!!

Wow Deb, that is tons and tons of snow! I recall you mentioning here recently that Lake Linden got less snow than up the hill in Laurium and Calumet. Sure doesn't look like "less" to me! BTW I love the UP front license plate on your vehicle.
