For all those that either don’t get UP here in the winter or just haven’t ventured across the Portage Lake Lift Bridge lately, Nancy Haun takes us on a tour from the outskirts of Houghton, through downtown, across the Lift Bridge, into Hancock and UP onto White Street. Fun to get a look at things along the way and see if you notice any changes since the last time you drove that same route. The one thing I spotted was in the first photo as she was just coming into Houghton on the fringes of Michigan Technological University campus. I’m not positive, but I think the big white building is going to be East Hall, to be open in the Fall of 2025. It will feature residential living, with Semi-private suites featuring single and double occupancy bedrooms, with bathrooms in every living unit, along with study areas, a gaming room and front desk services. Sounds pretty nice.

Now to wrap up the week, we join MI Playground for a quick look at their top 5 highlights from the recently completed shipping season in Sault Ste. Marie, including the famous Barker Bark!

I can see myself driving those roads in all the
pics, and I'm really getting the itch to get U.P.
there even with a major foot problem. lol

Deb, I can feel your frustration of the winter
drab and I too am ready for Spring and some color.
But that being said, I'd sure like to be driving
those roads right now!! I really am missing it.

Well, back in the Hyperbaric tube for me tomorrow.
I'll will be asking a few questions first!! My
heart goes out to the 5-year-old boy and his
family for their loss and devastating tragedy,
they just suffered down here a few days ago.

OH I forgot the very cool video on the freighters,
and to top it off with the Barker Bark, gotta love
that horn and I need one!! lol That horn here in
Detroit rush hour traffic, would be the perfect
solution!!

Mary/Donna, I looked into the East building a bit
more. Think they would let me rent a two bedroom
with private bath, if I enrolled in one class? Looks
like a great place for the students, Tech is doing
it right!! Marty and I would be a great influence
and role models for the students!! lol Hey, I could
say I'm living in God's Country then, not a bad
plan- eh? :=))
