We’ve talked about the North Country Trail that takes you right through Marquette on the shores of Lake Superior on these pages before. Laurie Bashaw and her hubby, Ed have made it their goal to hike this trail and add up the miles. These photos were from the last day of 2024, so they could wrap up the year, Laurie with 411.53 miles on the North Country Trail and Ed with 220.26 miles. Pretty impressive! Laurie told me that she actually has a total of 520 miles walked. That extra 100+ were walked in places other than the North Country Trail, but her favorite is on the lakeshore in Marquette. Looking at these photos, I can see why, the sights make the walk quite enjoyable. Now that we’re into the new year, it’s time for them to start all over again!
Pure Michigan shares a look at the North Country National Scenic Trail here today. The lead-in to the video says: “The North Country National Scenic Trail is a fantastic resource for hiking and nature enthusiasts. With nearly 1,200 miles of NCT in Michigan, there's bound to be a section of trail near you. Learn more about this National Scenic Trail in this episode of Pure Michigan Trails.”

Very nice! I used to love to walk (well, I still do), but my knee put a stop to this. I still do some and put up with the pain. But I could never hike as much as these two do. I run out of breath.

Nice pix and video! If I was able to, I’d get on that trail and walk till I dropped. Thanks for the hike!
