Fritz and his family are at it again! Last year, Jeff, Chris and Fritz Dennis had a goal of kayaking into the winter months, which wasn’t too bad then, because we had a mild winter for the Keweenaw, but this year is quite different. We’ve had more wind, snow and winter in the past couple weeks than we did for the whole month of December last year. That didn’t stop Fritz and company, though as they were out at Bete Grise paddling in Lake Superior on one of the calm days last week. They were rewarded with the discovery of a cool Superior arch with a snowy and icy covering...just beautiful!

Today’s video is from CBC Kids News and is about a pond in Alberta Canada, but I thought this was good information for all of us, so folks don’t release an invasive species into Lake Superior or any of the Great Lakes that surround us here in Michigan. The lead-in to the video says: “The town of Sylvan Lake, Alberta, said it has finished removing an estimated 14,000 goldfish from a pond in the town. Goldfish don’t naturally live in ponds in Alberta, which makes them an invasive species. A Grade 6 class from C.P. Blakely Elementary School wanted to find out more about the goldfish removal and how goldfish might be harmful to the natural environment.”

Cool. They're brave souls, though.
I'm not one to trust that lake,
but good for them. I see Jeff
yesterday, minus Fritz. He said he
was at home waiting for his
return, lol. What a dog!

In the first pic;
The look on the face of Fritz is almost
saying; “I’d rather be home curled up
by the fireplace.”
And I’ll never look at an aquarium the
same way again.

There's our Mascot out and about again! We do need
a pic of him enjoying a fireplace. (hint..Jeff!)

I'm guilty of flushing a few gold fish decades
ago...I really had no idea how awful that can
get...and they sure do grow. Wow. Good for those
kids....Learning a huge lesson early in life!

Yes, that look on Fritz's mug seems to be saying, "Time to put up the kayak for the season and look forward to that fireplace until spring, Dad!"

I have heard of people who make little yard ponds
then buy Koi fish for the summer months then
release them into rivers or lakes come winter.
Goldfish,Koi, and Carp are all in the same family.
