As promised, we have the second installment of the Houghton/Ripley waterfront reflection photos from Chad Johnson. Now I’m sure you can see why I couldn’t decide on just one day of his photos, because there were just too many good ones, not to make two days of them. In today’s grouping the fog hanging over Ripley, just kind of hugging the land is such a unique scene. I was actually in Houghton this same day and that fog bank caught my eye and I was wishing I had my good camera with me, thank goodness Chad was able to capture it so well. And several of his shots of the Houghton waterfront, could actually be turned upside down and you wouldn’t even notice, since the water was like a mirror. Picture perfect!

Copper Shores Community Health Foundation shares a video on Camp Josh, another of the GivingTuesday 2024 participating non-profits. Camp Josh, located in Ontonagon County, is a place for individuals with disabilities and/or special needs, with their teachers or support persons to come and learn about outdoor life such as hunting, fishing and the camp itself. They also hold a Veterans event to get Vets out enjoying the outdoors, too.

Wouldn't pic #5, perfect reflections, make an awesome jigsaw puzzle? I know it would drive me bonkers!

WOW is right!!! They are all stunning, but the first one is my favorite!

I agree Donna, Camp Josh is outstanding!

Hey, UC, hang in there. I'm praying for you to heal quickly. Know there are so many people pulling for you!

These are fantastic!! I wouldn't
have known which ones to choose
either. Glad you did two days of
them. Gorgeous, Chad!

Fabulous captures by Chad, both yesterday and today. Skill, patience and luck, all coming together.

I really like the strao-fog ones but my favorite is #5, only because you can see my old apartment. We could step out of our large window onto to the roof of the Library bar where were would spend time sunning in lawn chairs, studying of course.

An interesting story is captured in #5, "Perfect Reflections". The chimney I circled was that of the old Crown Bakery. It had several apartments on the 2nd & 3rd floors.

The chimney has white bricks at the top. These are from repairs done after the powerful storm of November 10th, 1975, known of course for the terrible tragedy of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Tons of bricks crashed trough the roof and onto to floor of the apartment above ours. Fortunately, no one was home above us, but it scared the He-double-hockey-sticks out of my roommate. It's now a "permanent" reminder of that awful day.

One more. The MTU webcam caught this reflection and fog interesting shot of Mt. Ripley early yesterday morning. At night the camera switches to B&W which I think makes this all the more beautiful.
