Da Brudders were recently off on another adventure and this time, they invited a good friend to join them. The trio headed off to Skanee, in Baraga County, north of L’Anse, where they explored around Big Eric’s Bridge that spans the Huron River, on the west end of the Huron Mountains, part of the wilderness at its best. The bridge is actually named after a real person, Big Eric Erickson, but not much is known about him, except for local stories. They say he was a large Swede from Skanee, that he spoke with a thick Swedish accent and that he logged for the Ford Motor Company that had a factory in Pequaming. I thought that was an interesting story to go along with the Fall exploring of Da Brudders and their friend. Even though it was somewhat cloudy that day, the guys found some beautiful fall colors around those parts.
We have a video of the Huron River flowing under Big Eric’s Bridge, from Erick Dircks. If you enjoy the sounds of the water rushing, make sure you turn your volume up.

Very easy to get to, Deb. Paved road almost all the way. Plus, it's then just a short jump to the mouth of the river with a nice sandy beach.

Also, great primitive camping there at the State Forest Campground.
We've been to the mouth of the Huron, D.A. That beach is awesome! But I've never been here.

Deb,
When you're on Skanee Road, bear left onto the gravel at McComb Corner instead of turning left, staying on the blacktop. Then 1/2 mile further down.

Oops! I meant "bear right instead of turning left".

Thanks, D.A. Now I just have to remember that next year, lol.
