So, as promised yesterday, we get to see Jeff and Chris Dennis’ day on Mackinac Island today and one of the reasons Fritz had to stay behind at home. Horseback riding isn’t the best place for Fritz, plus they didn’t want to be leaving him in a strange hotel by himself. Anyway, the first photo with the Mackinac Bridge in the background, is not Chris and Jeff on horseback, but the next two are. The saddle horses are from Cindy’s and in the video it looks like there are others on the ride, also, so I’m guessing they take groups out on tours around the Island. Chris is riding Marina and Jeff is on the back of Willy. They look like they’re pretty mild mannered horses and you’ll hear someone ask in the video as they pass by, whether the horses are hard to ride and Jeff replies, “Easy, so far!”. I have seen Jeff around town since their horseback riding adventure, so I’m guessing they survived and made it back home. Much to the relief of Fritz I’m sure.

Enjoy the Saddle Horseback video... I love the clip-clop of the horse hooves on the pavement. What a great way to leisurely tour the Island. I wonder if Jeff and Chris would let me start tagging along on their adventures. I could bring treats for Fritz when he’s there, too.

What a wonderful time!! I'd have taken the horse on
the grass and let er rip. At least back in healthy
days....That's a place I've never been to. They
charge you to go on the porch of the Grand Hotel,
right?? The history of this place is amazing...

Restless Viking on You Tube have a lot of vids on
the Island...good stuff!

That's one thing I've never done on Mackinac Island.
At this point in my life, I might prefer it to
renting a bicycle.

I also like the picture of the old-style freighter.

When I was on Mackinaw Island with the Boy Scouts back in '66 I rented a horse from the same place ... Cindy's! Good to see they are still in business. When going out of the stable and on the roads those horses only walk and when heading back to the stable they trot or even gallop.

John mich, I had a horse that would walk away from
home nice and easy, we would ride for awhile, time
to head home, she was ready set GO,....I fixed that
problem by making her walk backwards for the last
1/2 mile to home. She would ride away and ride back
home at a nice easy walk after doing that a few
times..

Nice pix and video, but I have to say,
Mary that the clipity-clopity-clipity-clopity
sound would probably drive me nuts.
This reminds me of a riding stable that was
on LakevilleRoad just east of Oxford, MI
that had acres of wooded and open field
trails to ride in…and no guide so you were
on your own. It’s been closed for years,
but wish I could remember the name.
I know Charlie grew up in Oxford,
I wonder if he remembers the name???
