Jeff and Chris Dennis took off for an adventure recently, exploring a few sights along the U.P. shoreline of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron near the Big Mac and before you ask, Jeff said Fritz’s heart was broken that they didn’t take him along. Their daughter said he cried when they left the house, but they had plans that were not dog friendly, so Fritz had to sit this one out and was spoiled by their daughter at home.

They stopped in Gulliver, east of Manistique for a tour of the Seul Choix (pronounced Sis-Shwa) Point Lighthouse, both on land and then by kayak, too. I had to look this one up for more information and found that visitors and workers alike have reported strange happenings, such as items moved around, footsteps climbing the lighthouse steps and the smell of cigars, making many believe that a lighthouse keeper is still at work there. Interesting!

From there, Jeff and Chris stopped in Mackinaw City and headed out in their kayaks to check out the Mackinac Bridge and the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse from the water, before hopping aboard a boat to Mackinac Island. They stayed at the Iroquois and also had a lunch buffet at the Grand Hotel. Jeff said he thought in September there would be less people on the Island, but it was very busy that day. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s Pasty Cam where we’ll continue the Island adventure.

Since I didn’t know much about the Seul Choix Lighthouse, I figured most of the rest of our viewers might not either, so we have a video from Visit Manistique to tell us a bit more about this historic lighthouse.

Nice shots of the lighthouse against
an ever so blue UP sky.
The calmness and clarity of the lake
is amazing as well. Looks like a fun outing.
Well done, gentlemen!

These pictures are great, and what
fun. The water is so calm and
cooperative that day. I love all
of the pictures, but that last one
where you can see into the water
is so good. Thanks Jeff and Chris
got some great shots. You do all
the things I wish I had done.

Poor Fritz....I can imagine him crying when they
left him. poor pup...

What an awesome adventure!! Way, way cool....and
another haunted place...that's cool too.

Bro owns a haunted Inn. A friend is living in her
old family home...handed down for years. She'll
smell a match get lit every now and again..and
doing restorations in the home, she found an old
cigar band in the walls...There's so much around
us that we just don't know.

That's a beautiful light house...well kept up.
Imagine being in one of them during a good storm.

We sure do have some beautiful blue skies...Amen
Alex!!

Great pictures and beautiful weather! We went to Seul Choix years ago before they started mentioning the hauntings. All they warned us about were the bats in the tower!

I bet the Island is really benefiting from this bright and mild Autumn weather. Good for everyone over there before things really slow down.

Fritz has his brother to hang out with!
