E. Neil Harri is a bit of a night owl or maybe he’s a really early bird, because he was UP at 2:00 a.m. last week capturing these Northern Lights over Eagle Harbor and the Marina. That first shot with the lights of the homes in the Harbor and the Aurora overhead is something else. Someone commented that it is magical and I’d have to agree. Note the color of the water in all three of Neil’s shots, the reflection of the lights is coloring it with a green hue like the lights in the sky. Pretty spectacular if you ask me! I’m always appreciative to the folks that get out there at all hours of the night and early morning to capture this beauty for us all to see, no matter where we live and I for one, never tire of seeing the photos, because you just never know when the next display will be.

Michigan Technological University shares a video of the Keweenaw, featuring a sampling of the scenery that makes up the unparalleled beauty of this area that we love, home to hardwoods, sandstone cliffs, lake-effect snow and beautiful Lake Superior.

These are beautiful. And yes the
first is my favorite. What a prime
spot Neil has for catching these.

Dark skies...awesome...and lucky!\

WELL DONE Houghton!
“So our estimated unofficial final count was 925
participants in this year’s Keweenaw Plaidurday
celebration. And based on what we understand, we
believe we beat out Ironwood and Marquette in the
Upper Peninsula by a healthy margin.” – Brad
Barnett, Executive Director, Visit Keweenaw.

What a great year for the northern lights
Over the Keweenaw... As many times as I
have been up there I have only managed to
see the northern lights once or twice and
They were nowhere near as dramatic and
beautiful as the pictures that have
appeared on pasty central this
year...Thanks to all the fantastic
photographers For their early mornings
and late nights.

Beautiful! I love to watch the earth’s protection.
And a nice video too. Brockway…I sure do miss it.
May I rise and see it again someday.
